Course Details

The nationally accredited Certificate II in Spoken and Written English will give you the foundation English-language skills you need to communicate with classmates, friends and employers. You will be supported to learn the basics through reading, writing and speaking English in the classroom and at home.

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you are:

To successfully complete this course, you will need:

  • attend classes regularly, do homework and independent learning activities, revise classwork and pass ALL assessments.

STUDY COMMITMENT

This is a part-time day blended course. You will need to attend approximately 12 hours of class, over 3 days a week, for 18 weeks.

You may also be required to complete approximately 5 hours of additional study each week outside of class hours, including private study, assignment preparation, and research.

This course is currently scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.00am to 3.30pm. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES

This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSW Government will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process. Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:

  • students need to bring a 2-ring folder, pens, pencils, notebook and USB. Dictionaries are optional.

FULLY GOVERNMENT SUBSIDISED

This course is fully government-subsidised for eligible students, meaning you will not have to pay any course fees. It is part of a program to help people develop the skills they need to get a job, undertake entry level qualifications or transition to a new job.

If you are not eligible for subsidised training, you can still choose to enrol in the course but will need to pay the full (non-subsidised) fee.
