This course is currently scheduled on Monday and Wednesday with evening classes. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Knowledge assessments: short answer, research tasks
Practical skills assessments: demonstrations under observation, role playing using a fictional organisation or your own workplace as a basis
Simulated workplace projects: scenario-based problem solving
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
There is no work placement for this qualification.

To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to provide evidence. To be eligible for the Scholarship you must meet all the following eligibility requirements:
You must be eligible to enrol, as a TAFE NSW student in the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety to be delivered in a virtual classroom using Microsoft Teams and meet all the applicable TAFE NSW enrolment requirements; and
Unless otherwise approved by TAFE NSW, you must commence the Course in the week commencing 17 October 2022 and cannot defer your Course commencement date.
You must be currently working in a role that involves limited responsibility/supervision of others in a WHS context.
You must agree to provide feedback to S&L Steel at the end of the course.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 10 Units of competency, including 5 core and 5 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Connect with your teachers and other students in a virtual classroom to participate in learning activities via video or web conferencing technology. You will be able to join the class from anywhere with a good internet connection, such as your home or a TAFE campus. If you would like to join from TAFE, please contact your local campus to book a space. Much like a regular class, you will have scheduled times of attendance. Depending on what you are studying, your course may also include some online units.
