This course is currently scheduled on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with day classes. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Knowledge tasks: online quizzes, short answer questions, case studies, written tasks and research projects, matching and true or false activities
Practical tasks before starting work placement: interviews, role-plays, creative projects, presentations and practical demonstrations
Workplace assessment tasks: written tasks, reflective journals, verbal or written questioning, planning and implementing activities, practical demonstrations
Submission of a training logbook

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:
A minimum of 160 hours of work placement in a regulated Education and Care Service in Australia is required for this qualification. The work placement will be arranged by the TAFE NSW in partnership with the service and implemented within the student's program to enable consolidation, reflection, improvement and assessment to occur.
A student may already have access to a regulated Education and Care service through paid or voluntary employment. This can be assessed by TAFE NSW for suitability for the student to complete their placement.
A valid Working with Children Check will be required by the Education and Care Service. The Service and/or some locations may also have additional requirements such as vaccination and Police Checks. Students will be notified of specific requirements prior to placement. Please note: There are currently COVID 19 vaccination requirements for volunteers and employees in the Education and Care Sector. Work placement is an opportunity to learn on the job and complete assessment requirements and often leads to employment opportunities.

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.
This full time day (12 months course) is 3 day per week program for 36 delivery weeks. This is generally across 4 school terms with term breaks. It would be best suited to a student who is able to commit to 3 days per week on campus and/or virtual classroom study. This delivery can easily be coupled with 2 days per week work in the sector. Your campus will have opportunities for you to engage with potential employers.

Students will require regular access to, and have the ability to use a computer and internet. This could either be your personal device or can be accessed at your local campus.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 17 Units of competency, including 15 core and 2 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
