This course is currently scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday with Day classes. This timetable may change and will be confirmed by your teacher.
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Knowledge tasks: online quizzes, multiple choice questions, matching and true or false activities
Project tasks: case studies, creative projects, research activities, presentations
Workplace portfolio: reflective journals, implementing activities, practical skills demonstrations
Training logbook: completion of a minimum of 100 hours of work placement
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:
A minimum of 100 hours of work placement in a Primary and/ or secondary School in Australia is required for this qualification.
The work placement will be arranged by the TAFE NSW in partnership with the school and implemented within the student’s program to enable consolidation, reflection, improvement and
assessment to occur.
Student needs to evidence successful progression in the course to be eligible to attempt work placement.
A student may already have access to a School through paid or voluntary employment. This can be assessed by TAFE NSW for suitability for the student to complete their placement.
A valid Working with Children Check will be required by the Education and Care Service.

This full-time day (9 months course) is an intensive delivery, 2 days per week for 27 continuous weeks.
It would be best suited to individuals who are confident in their ability to take in new information and concepts quickly and are able to manage a high assessment load in a short period of time. If this does not sound like you, we have other delivery options that may better suit you. Students will require regular access to and have the ability to use a computer and internet. This could either be your personal device or can be accessed at your local campus. We look forward to supporting you in reaching your career goals.
The course structure: 2 days on campus, 1 day onsite in a school environment.
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in School Based Education Support qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 units of competency, including 10 core and 5 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
TAFE NSW Nirimba is located within the Nirimba Education Precinct at Quakers Hill, a short 15 minute walk from the Quakers Hill train station. While being Western Sydney’s major centre for training in building and construction, TAFE NSW Nirimba also caters for the logistics, information technology, child studies, business services, music and entertainment and community services sectors.
