Assessments

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence:

    • of a current NSW Working With Children Check and may be required to undergo a National Criminal Records Check.

  • To successfully complete this course, you will need:

    • to successfully undertake 80 hours work placement. This will be negotiated between student, TAFE and the host organisation. Teachers will organise student work placement and match students to relevant agencies with which TAFE NSW has a student placement agreement. If a student already has access through paid or voluntary work with a community agency this can be assessed for suitability for the student to complete their placement with that agency.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Mental Health qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 units of competency, including 11 core and 4 speciality units.

Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
