An individual training plan will be provided when you enrol in this course. Your plan will outline the recommended study timetable and detail your units and assessments.
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Knowledge assessments: online quizzes, multiple-choice questions, matching and true or false activities, research projects, presentations, creative projects
Skills assessments: critical reflection activities and reflective journals, programming, planning and implementing curriculum tasks
Practical skills assessments: practical demonstrations such as implementing experiences and routines

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.
To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:
A minimum of 280 hours of work placement in a regulated Education and Care Service in Australia is required for this qualification. The work placement will be arranged by the TAFE NSW in partnership with the service and implemented within the student’s program to enable consolidation, reflection, improvement and assessment to occur.
A student may already have access to a regulated Education and Care service through paid or voluntary employment. This can be assessed by TAFE NSW for suitability for the student to complete their placement.
A valid Working with Children Check will be required by the Education and Care Service. The Service and/or some locations may also have additional requirements such as vaccination and Police Checks. Students will be notified of specific requirements prior to placement. Please note: There are currently COVID 19 vaccination requirements for volunteers and employees in the Education and Care Sector. Work placement is an opportunity to learn on the job and complete assessment requirements and often leads to employment and/or promotion opportunities.

The CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care has entry requirements. Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who: - hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or - CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. A certified transcript of your Academic transcript will need to be provided on enrolment.
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 , including 12 core and 3 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.

While it is home to one of only two Cisco Academy Training Centres in the Australasia Pacific region, TAFE NSW Meadowbank also features hair, beauty and massage clinics as well as a sports and fitness centre, all designed to give students access to real-world on-the-job training. Additionally, TAFE NSW and the NSW Department of Education are working together to create the Meadowbank Education Precinct, which will see students able to follow an educational pathway from kindergarten, right through to completing a bachelor degree or diploma at TAFE NSW.
