Assessments

Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

  • Knowledge assessments: online quizzes, multiple-choice questions, matching and true or false activities, research projects, presentations, creative projects

  • Skills assessments: critical reflection activities and reflective journals, programming, planning and implementing curriculum tasks

  • Practical skills assessments: practical demonstrations such as implementing experiences and routines

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • Please note: The CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care has entry requirements. Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold a CHC30121 or CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. You will require a verified testamur or transcript as evidence.

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be:

    • Physically fit to undertake first aid responses including performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while kneeling on the floor for at least 2 minutes.
    • Follow TAFE NSW policy and procedures, adhering to NSW law when enrolling students under the age of 17- https://www.tafensw.edu.au/study/pathways/school-to-tafe. Students under 18 years of age will require signed consent from their parents or guardians for certain course written agreements.
  • This qualification Is suitable for people who are very motivated & can work independently online. The qualifation reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 , including 12 core and 3 speciality units.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.

Nirimba

TAFE NSW Nirimba is located within the Nirimba Education Precinct at Quakers Hill, a short 15 minute walk from the Quakers Hill train station. While being Western Sydney’s major centre for training in building and construction, TAFE NSW Nirimba also caters for the logistics, information technology, child studies, business services, music and entertainment and community services sectors.
