  • Knowledge assessments: online quizzes, multiple-choice questions, matching and true or false activities, research projects, presentations, creative projects

  • Skills assessments: critical reflection activities and reflective journals, programming, planning and implementing curriculum tasks

  • Practical skills assessments: practical demonstrations such as implementing experiences and routines

  • Submission of a training logbook

Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • To be enrolled in this course offering, you need to be able to meet the following work placement requirements:

    • This course requires the student to be employed in an early childhood service where the 280 work placement hours are completed.
    • The Public Health (COVID -19 Vaccination of Education and Care Workers) Order 2021 states that education and care workers are required to have received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or be issued with a medical contraindication certificate to be able to undertake relevant work. This applies to trainees employed in an early education and care facility.
    • A valid Working with Children Check will be required by the Education and Care Service.

  • This course offering is designed for people who:

    • have completed CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification.
    • Students can access Tutorial Support at Port Macquarie Campus during school terms on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 7:30am-9:00am or online through Microsoft Teams.
    • Students will need to have access to a computer and the internet.
    • Students are required to have a competent level of computer and IT skills to access all online resources and complete and submit all assessment tasks online.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 , including 12 core and 3 speciality units.

Course delivery Combination study

Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
