Work placement provides you with learning opportunities that can't be replicated in the classroom. It gives you valuable, real world experience and the opportunity to make industry connections.

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.

  • Orientation week begins 18 February 2019 and you should use this week to become familiar with your course and subjects by reading your course handbook and subject guides. This week is also an ideal time to read the additional information provided about studying with TAFE NSW Higher Education and to get to know your teachers and your online learning platform (‘Moodle’).

  • This course is delivered on-line and you will be required to have internet access and a computer capable of connecting with TAFE on-line systems. As well as engaging with online learning content, you are expected to undertake additional private study to maximise success in the course. The course uses a project based learning approach that allows you to engage with workplace or community scenarios relevant to your context. You will also have significant opportunities to engage with your study colleagues and teachers.

  • Students who have completed other studies in a related field or who have extensive relevant industry experience may be eligible for exemption from similar subjects in the Diploma of Sustainable Practice. All applications for exemption must be made to the course coordinator and must include supporting documentation. Students should attend class until they are formally advised that their application for exemption has been granted.

      Course delivery Combination study

      Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.

      Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
