Work placement

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

  • During your course you will undertake a mandatory 35 hours of work placement with a suitable industry employer.

  • Depending on your mode of study, TAFE NSW will either arrange your work placement for you or support you to find one.

  • TAFE uniform to be purchased for work placements cost $50. Learners must wear enclosed shoes to all practical classes - these should be leather and non slip and cover the whole foot.

  • To be enrolled in this course, you need to be able to provide evidence that you:

    • have vaccinations for Hepatitis B, a Police check, a Working with Children check, other vaccinations as per NSW Health policy.

  • Students must complete RUReady Literacy and numeracy assessment and be able to pass interview.

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Pathology Collection qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 14 Units of competency, including 9 core and 5 speciality units.

Course delivery Virtual classroom, on campus

You will attend a TAFE NSW campus or Connected Learning Centre to connect with your teachers and other students in a virtual classroom where you will participate in learning activities via video or web conferencing technology. Much like a regular class, you will have scheduled times of attendance. Depending on what you are studying, your course may also include some online units or practice training though our network of Mobile Training Units.
