  • TAFE Statement Ceramics Glaze and Fire

    This hands-on practical course will focus on skills in glaze testing and making along with kiln firing. The programme is tailored to individual workshop needs from beginner to advanced level. Theory lectures include basic glaze and firing technologies, glaze testing methodologies, glaze application, colour theory and glaze fault resolution. Participants will work with their own choice of clay body and firing range. Instruction on Kiln management, programming procedures and firing cycles will be given. Kilns will be fired between each session.

    Learn the foundations of ceramic studio art practice in a supportive and professional environment. Build upon existing wheel forming, design, mould making, hand forming, kiln packing and firing skills. You will refine technical and conceptual skills through a process of experimentation and practice. Teachers will demonstrate a wide range of specific techniques and skills so that you can further develop with clay. This course can be extended into a full year program as a series of four payment terms to give a full range of basic ceramics skills.
