Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.
Knowledge tasks: online quizzes, short answer questions, case studies, written tasks and research projects, matching and true or false activities
Practical tasks before starting work placement: interviews, role-plays, creative projects, presentations and practical demonstrations
Workplace assessment tasks: written tasks, reflective journals, verbal or written questioning, planning and implementing activities, practical demonstrations

Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

The Public Health (COVID -19 Vaccination of Education and Care Workers) Order 2021 states that education and care workers are required to have received 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine or be issued with a medical contraindication certificate by 8 November 2021 to be able to undertake relevant work. This applies to students on work placement in an early education and care facility. If you are not vaccinated we cannot assure you that this component of your course can be organized or fulfilled, which will impact your ability to successfully course complete. TAFENSW recognizes students’ reasons for not being vaccinated. This can be discussed privately with TAFE NSW career counsellors prior to enrolment.

To make sure this delivery option is the right fit for you, we will need you to demonstrate that you can meet the additional requirements below.
Students will need to have access to a computer and the internet. Students will be given a copy of their timetable on their first day of class. They will need to bring a pen and a note pad/folder with paper with them to their first day of class. If you have access to a laptop or device you may like to bring this along to your classes. If you do not have such a device we will arrange for you to use one from the library or our section.
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 17 Units of competency, including 15 core and 2 speciality units.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
