Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Identify and control safety risks for intense pulsed light (IPL) and laser hair reduction treatments
Design and provide laser hair reduction treatment programs
Design and provide IPL hair reduction treatment programs
Investigate developments in cosmetic treatments using light and laser systems
Maintain infection control standards
Gain practical experience and develop specialist skills that give you an advantage in the job market.
Confidence to start your own sole trader business
Real-world experience through organising and completing a mandatory 480 hours of work placement in industry
Ability to apply safe laser standards in a clinic environment
Confidence to practise your craft on clients
Ability to consult with clients and assess their needs
Ensure correct work health and safety standards
This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
You’ll need to provide a transcript of your Diploma of Beauty Therapy AND
You must have 12 months post-qualification experience as a beauty therapist with a primary focus on providing facial services, skin services and hair reduction services, as evidenced by a letter from your employer OR
You’ll need to provide a transcript of your qualification as an Enrolled or Registered Nurse AND
You must have 12 months qualification experience in the application of knowledge in human biology, anatomy and physiology, as evidenced by a letter from your employer
OR
You are an Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse, as evidenced by an academic transcript AND have 12 months post-qualification experience in the application of knowledge in human biology, anatomy and physiology, as evidenced by a letter from an employer
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
Understanding of the anatomy of the skin
Sound knowledge of skin functions
Understanding of the effect of light on the skin
