Overview

If you are dreaming of a career filled with exotic, native and rare animals of all shapes and sizes, the Certificate III in Captive Animals could be for you.

You will need:

- Love of animals
- Ability to work in a team
- Interest in animal welfare, conservation and rehabilitation

This qualification is the general industry qualification for keepers in captive animal facilities such as zoos, wildlife parks, mobile zoos or aquariums.

Your teachers will be expert zookeepers and captive animal experts. With the perfect mix of theory and hands-on experience, you will learn:

- The significance of animal conservation
- How to safely capture, restrain and move animals
- How to monitor animal health
- Techniques for presenting information to the public
- How to maintain animal housing
- Nutrition, reproduction and enrichment for animals

TAFE NSW will provides you with hands-on, real-world learning to make sure you are job and industry ready. You should organise paid employment or a voluntary placement in an aquarium, wildlife parks, zoo or similar before starting your study.
