Are you looking to embrace your love of horses and horse riding with a career in the horse racing industry? TAFE NSW's Certificate III in Racing (Advanced Stablehand) will teach you to lead the daily operations of a harness or thoroughbred racing stable. You will gain a solid understanding of how the horse racing industry operates as well as how proper and effective treatment and training of the animals is integral to the longevity of horse riding, both as a pursuit and as a sport. You will learn to work independently to manage the different functions of a stable, as well as to supervise the handling and transportation of horses, provide first aid and emergency horse care.
You will also participate in the implementation of racehorse feeding and exercise programs. Enjoy stable hand work as a Senior Stablehand or Stable Foreman where, when needed, you may even step up to act on behalf of the trainer on race days.
