In this course you will undertake:

This course, the Certificate II in Kitchen Operations is an entry level qualification. It builds the foundational skills and knowledge you need to work in a food preparation role such as breakfast cook, catering assistant, sandwich hand or fast food cook.

Once you complete this course you will be qualified to work in businesses such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.

Demand for restaurants is likely to expand due to growing food culture, a greater focus on healthy food options and busier lifestyles of people.

A skilled chef can also be a pathway from other occupations such as cook. The number of people working as cooks is expected to grow strongly with employment for this occupation forecast to increase by around 3.6% between 2019/20 and 2024/25.

This qualification was designed with industry to support forecast growth in the hospitality industry over the next three years. Subjects are tailored to industry need so you learn and develop the essential skills for a successful career in the food industry.
