Completion requirements

During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

  • You must be able to work with a qualified licensed harvester in the field while completing the course materials. You will need to show evidence for your assessments through videos or photographs.

  • Students are responsible for responsible for organising their supervision with a qualified licensed harvester.

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • An aptitude for practical, hands-on work

  • The capability to work alone, mostly at night

  • The ability to eviscerate a wild game animal carcase

  • Awareness of the licensing requirements of the NSW Food Authority, WA Department of Environment and Conservation, and PrimeSafe in Victoria

  • Intermediate level of fitness to manage physical demands

Licensing

You will need to complete an additional unit (AMPG306 Use firearms to harvest wild game) to apply for a licence to harvest game through the NSW Food Authority. Once you've completed AMPG306 you can apply for a licence in Victoria through PrimeSafe, or in Western Australia through the Department of Environment and Conservation.
