    80 hours of clinical practice treating 40 clients at the public massage clinic run at the campus and supervised by your teachers
    Customer facing interactions requiring conducting a consult
    The ability to provide treatment direction and planning
    The ability to practice as a massage therapist independently, join massage associations and get public liability and professional negligence insurance
    A pathway to further study in a range of other health-related qualifications

Completion requirements

During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

  • A Working with Children Check (WWCC), which you need to complete your course requirements at a TAFE NSW clinic

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • The physical stamina to stand for a long period of time to give a massage
    Empathy and a warm personality
    Excellent communication skills
    The fitness and mobility to deliver first aid such as performing CPR while kneeling on the floor

Licensing

Although a licence is not compulsory to work in the massage therapy industry, some massage associations like the Association of Massage Therapists (AMT) will require all practitioners and student members to have a National Police Check. Please check your state or territory association for any other requirements.

Units Units taught in this course
