Assessments
Assessments give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learnt and to identify the knowledge or skills that may need further development.

Work placement
Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace.

Workplace / mandatory work placement requirements. Prior to allocation of professional experience in NSW Health facilities or other facilities, students will be required to:
• Meet NSW Health's criminal record check and working with children check requirements.Visit http://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/police-checks/national-police-checks.aspx.
• Sign the NSW Health code of conduct form and any other forms, as required by NSW Health (available to students once enrolled).
• Undertake occupational assessment, screening and vaccination against infectious diseases and provide their health care worker/student vaccination record card.
• Complete mandatory online modules as required by NSW Health (available to students prior to work placement).
Purchase uniform requirements as detailed in the application form.
To achieve this qualification, students must complete 440 hours of documented clinical work placement as arranged by the teaching section of TAFE NSW. This professional experience includes fulltime shift work of varying start and finish times.

Units Units taught in this course
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Nursing qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 25 units of competency, including 20 core and 5 speciality units.

Course delivery Combination study
Learn through a combination of classroom based, online and/or workplace activity. For example, you may participate in scheduled classroom activity, have an element of self-directed learning with online content, and/or receive supervised training while on the job, doing work experience, or on placement.
Classroom activity will be scheduled, but online learning can provide more flexibility. Teacher support will be provided for all study. Access to a computer with an internet connection is required.
