We are lucky to be surrounded by an amazing bunch of humans here at
TAFE NSW. And, taking a closer look at our female population we see
they’ve got one thing in common; they’re all incredible! Here are four
fearless females that are making waves across the state.
Belinda Maudson’s CV reads like an IMBD excerpt; ‘Star Wars’,
‘Godzilla’, ‘House of Wax’, ‘Erskineville Kings’ and ‘Angst’, ‘Dr
Zhivago’, ‘Rocky Horror Show’ and ‘Priscilla,’ as well as the 2000
Sydney Olympic games! Since becoming a teacher at TAFE NSW, Belinda
and her students have worked on pieces for VIVID Sydney, the Sydney
Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and countless live events. With Belinda’s
track record you can see why was awarded TVET Teacher of the Year at
the 2018 State Training Awards.
Lizzie Von Gavel’s passion for Australian art took her beyond the
classroom, to the planning, development and coordination of the Mehi
Art Studio and Gallery at TAFE NSW Moree. Lizzie provides Aboriginal
students the opportunity to showcase their art, as well as teaches
them important business and life skills. In recognition for her
dedication and effort, Lizzie was named Non-Aboriginal Teacher of the
Year at the 2018 TAFE NSW Gili Awards.
For 20 years, the 2015 Teacher of the Year WINNER, Lyn Wilson, has
been leading the charge developing strong foundations in basic
Language, Literacy and Numeracy in adults. Lyn’s model of good
practice and designs of Indigenous pre-employment and other training
programs have been key to the significant number of employment
outcomes achieved for Aboriginal people in Sydney. After winning the
prestigious award, Lyn took her passionate career to new heights,
leading teams of literacy teachers and head teachers across the Sydney
region in a bid to develop pathways for other disadvantaged students.
Award-winning IT guru, Jacquie Tang traded in a high-flying corporate
career to follow her passion for teaching, Jacquie is particularly
passionate about seeing her International Students grow and excel not
only in IT but in a totally new country. Jacquie understands the
concerns and challenges of an international student. After all, she
