The public school system does not suit everyone. For some, the ridged structure can be overwhelming. Cassandra Pickering was one such student.
Dropping out of year 12 in 2011, the Mount Druitt local, turned to TAFE NSW. Cassandra excelled in the more relaxed, hands on approach offered by TAFE completing high school and inspired to move into career focused study.

With the help of Blacktown's Marist Youth Care Cassandra has returned to TAFE NSW to study a course in business administration, while completing a traineeship with Senator Marise Payne's office. A traineeship which has evolved into a fulltime role.
