A partnership between TAFE Western and industry has benefitted more than 300 apprentices and their employers in Lithgow.

The Lithgow Skills Centre (LSC) Program which has been operating for more than 15 years at TAFE Western offers Electrical and Fitting and Machining apprentices the opportunity to expand their skills in a range of areas enhancing their trade qualifications.

"Some of the important skills the students learn as part of the Lithgow Skills Centre Program include electrical enhancements, fitting and machining, metal fabrication projects, hydraulics and pneumatics, first aid and communications," Brad Polak from TAFE Western told the Lithgow Mercury.

"The Lithgow Skills Centre Program is a high quality, flexible training program customised to meet the needs of each employer and varying attendance patterns are negotiated by the employers for their apprentices," he added.

This year's partners include EnergyAustralia, Skillset Workforce, Centennial Coal and Thales Australia.
