Wayne Wright is a fine example that students of all ages and abilities can achieve great things if they want to.
Wayne had worked in the building trades for a quarter of a century, but his driver's licence was revoked because of a degenerative eye condition. He decided to switch careers and enrolled in a Certificate III in Community Services Course at TAFE Western, Orange Campus.
"Going back to studying was really difficult because of my disability and because I hadn't studied for three decades," he told the Central Western Daily, Orange, NSW.
The encouragement from disability consultants and tutoring by TAFE teachers was instrumental in helping him overcome many hurdles to start a dream career with Mission Australia.
"The only reason I was able to adjust was because of the TAFE teachers and support staff who went above and beyond to help me."
He reassures others with disabilities not to give up as TAFE NSW does offer life-changing experiences.
