TAFE NSW contributes to highly skilled Gunida Gunyah workforce

Six Gunida Gunyah employees have acquired vastly improved skills and new-found confidence in the workplace after successfully completing a TAFE NSW Certificate III in Business Administration course last week.

The students attended TAFE NSW Gunnedah one day a week for the past 12 months, learning important skills such as top-level customer service, organising schedules, preparing presentations, how to create and use spreadsheets and much more.

Gunida Gunyah CEO Jane Bender said, “Staff learning new skills and enhancing their current skills builds their knowledge base and provides us with a more confident, productive and competent workforce.

“Our staff enjoyed this course and we have seen a significant change in their ability to carry out additional workplace tasks that they previously didn’t have the understanding or knowledge to do.”

Course graduate Jodie Kay added, “The thing I enjoyed the most about the course was all the new skills I learnt. These skills will help me be more accurate with data collection and be more efficient in my job.

“Tracey Ellicott and Rebecca Zigic, our TAFE NSW teachers, were great and made the experience very enjoyable.”

TAFE NSW Business Head Teacher Tracey Ellicott said, “The group were hardworking and enjoyable to work with – we certainly had some laughs along the way. They remained committed right throughout the 12 months of the course.

“It’s great to know that the skills we have provided them with have helped deliver a more efficient workplace, and a great example of how TAFE NSW can customise training to meet the needs of local organisations.”

Australian Government statistics reveal the number of new general clerk positions will exceed 182,000 across Australia until 2023, meaning there’s never been a better time to consider coming to TAFE NSW to get the skills you need for an exciting business career.
