In 2018, TAFE NSW has cemented its reputation as Australia’s leading
provider of education and training, when the Design Centre Enmore was
recognised on the national stage.
Entertainment and Design teacher Belinda Maudson took out the award
for VET Teacher of the Year at the NSW Training Awards and was a
finalist for VET Teacher of the Year at the Australian Training
Awards. The TAFE NSW Design Centre Enmore was awarded and named as the
Large Training Provider of the Year, respectfully.
Ms Maudson has worked on everything from Star Wars to The Wiggles,
Godzilla, Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and Sydney Theatre Company
productions. For 13 years, Belinda has been doing a job she truly
loves, nurturing students undertaking illustration and production
design courses, and delivering the skills, support and opportunities
students need to achieve and succeed at the TAFE NSW Design Centre Enmore.
“I love sending students to work on film and TV productions,” Ms
Maudson said. “Being a teacher is a great feeling to harness students’
enthusiasm into new skills, which ultimately can land them a job in
the industry at the end of their studies. The students are delighted
to learn something new, and their joy in mastering it is infectious.
“To be recognised as the 2018 NSW Vocational Education and Training
Teacher of the Year is a huge honour and I’m blown away with the win.
I’m very proud to work alongside so many dedicated staff and students
who continue to receive great results for TAFE NSW Design Centre
Enmore. The greatest aim of any teacher is to ensure that their
students are properly equipped with the skills and qualifications
needed to excel in the workforce, and this is why I love my job as a
teacher so much,” said Ms Maudson.
In 2018 and 2017, TAFE NSW illuminated The Royal Botanic Garden
Sydney as students created a dazzling display of light installations
which appeared as part of Vivid Sydney. In 2012 and again in 2019,
TAFE NSW will march alongside a float of giant puppets produced by
students, at the annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.
Belinda is the type of teacher that every student hopes will mentor
them towards a successful career in the entertainment design space,
and is delighted to be passing on her knowledge, skills and industry
connections to students studying at TAFE NSW Design Centre Enmore.
On Wednesday 23 January, TAFE NSW Design Centre Enmore will throw
open their doors to future students looking for course information and
campus tour around the state-of-the-art facilities. For more
