A TAFE NSW staff member from Wagga Wagga is on track to successfully
break her own fundraising record for women's mental health awareness.
For the month of September, Michaeli Talbot has been a participant in
'Liptember'. This community-based awareness and fundraising campaign
requires participants to wear a different, brightly-coloured lipstick
for every day of the month.
With a natural passion for make-up, Michaeli has found the challenge
to be not very challenging as she loves to wear colourful lipstick anyway.
"I've got blue, purple, red, fushia, yellow and green," she
told Riverina TAFE.
This was Michaeli's third involvement in Liptember. She was
originally drawn to the campaign because it targets mental health for
women, something that is often eclipsed by high profile men's mental
health awareness campaigns such as Movember.
"One of the statistics that really affected me and encouraged me
to be involved in Liptember is that suicide is the biggest single
cause of death for Australian women aged 18 to 34," she said.
In 2015 Michaeli managed to raise a whopping $500 from Liptember. She
is hoping to beat this record this year.Anyone wanting to donate to
