BEAMING WITH PRIDE: TAFE NSW gets Mardi Gras gong for commitment to inclusivity

INCLUSIVITY MATTERS: TAFE NSW staff and students at Design Centre Enmore’s ‘wearable art stall’ on Fair Day at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, which saw TAFE NSW honoured with the Most Fabulous Stall Award.

TAFE NSW has been honoured for its creativity and commitment to inclusivity at the recent 2023 Mardi Gras Community Awards.

As part of its commitment to supporting the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, TAFE NSW Design Centre Enmore designed a suitably sequined float for the iconic event.

Students and staff volunteers also created a “wearable art” stall at the event’s Fair Day, earning TAFE NSW the Most Fabulous Stall Award.

Co-chair of the TAFE NSW Pride Network Ben James said the award recognised TAFE NSW’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

“Our partnership with the Design Centre Enmore team has been integral to fostering LGBTQIA+ inclusion for both our learners and employees,” Mr James said.

“Being awarded Most Fabulous Stall at the 2023 Mardi Gras Community Awards is a testament to our educators’ dedication to being a force for good in the communities across NSW we serve.”

Further highlighting that commitment, TAFE NSW has recently developed a Pronoun Guide, helping foster understanding and assisting staff and students in bringing their authentic selves to TAFE NSW.
