TAFE NSW Ultimo alumnus Troy Ward has been awarded Apprentice of the Year at the prestigious Central and Northern Sydney Regional Training Awards Presentation Event at The Concourse, Chatswood last Thursday night.
TAFE NSW students claimed four of the six awards on offer at the Training Services NSW event, including Jane Tieken who won Vocational Student of the Year, Maddison Camilleri who won Trainee of the Year and Tahni Roberts who won Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year.
Troy, who is employed by Infinity Lifts said, “I am humbled to have received such an award. I tip my hat to my employer for giving me such an opportunity in my career and to TAFE NSW for helping me get to where I am today.
10 years ago I received cochlear implants in both of my ears, this increased my ability to hear giving me the opportunity to learn the skills needed to work in the electrotechnology and elevator industry.”
TAFE NSW Regional General Manager Alison Wood congratulated Troy.
“These awards recognise our most passionate, industrious and skillful students, and they should be very proud to have been acknowledged for their excellence amongst their peers from across the region.”
TAFE NSW is determined to train students to the highest level, equip them with practical skills and the right work experience so they are ready to hit the ground running in their chosen field, Ms Wood said
“I have no doubt Troy will go on to forge a highly successful career and will be a wonderful ambassador for TAFE NSW,” said Ms Wood.
The annual Training Services NSW event recognises and rewards the outstanding achievements of vocational students and demonstrates the extent of quality in the vocational education and training sector.
