Bega Valley Shire Council Further Education Scholarships

The Bega Valley Shire Council is awarding Further Education Scholarships to support the development of skills and abilities of students from the region, who are experiencing barriers to higher education.

The Further Education Scholarships is awarding a total of $5,000 (up to $1000 for each applicant), with the aim of providing opportunities for students living in the Bega Valley Shire. The scholarships will raise the profiles of successful students, and help to encourage even more young people to pursue further education while still living locally.

Closing date: 31 March, 2020

To be eligible for a Further Education Scholarship, students must: 

  • be residing within the Bega Valley Shire (excluding secondary students)
  • be enrolled in a full time or part time course (including online study), with either a university, TAFE NSW, or other registered training organisation (RTO). 
  • not be in receipt of any other scholarship

Please note that preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate financial hardship.

To apply for a Further Education Scholarship, visit the Bega Valley Shire Council website, and fill out the application forms. As part of the application process, you will be asked to: 

  • identify the key purpose(s) or use of the scholarship grant money, (i.e. travel, books, etc.)
  • describe your key motivating factors, and/or goals, for undertaking study
  • identify how the scholarship will help you to break down barriers in achieving your educational goals.

Applications close on 31 March, 2020, after which time an assessment committee will review the submitted applications. Then throughout April and May of 2020, applicants will be advised of their outcomes, and scholarship agreements will be completed.
